PostHeaderIcon Which printer should I buy to print nice business cards?

Im starting a business that requires me to have literally thousands of mini business cards weekly. I figured since I require so many it would be more cost effective for me to print them myself instead of ordering them. One side of the card will have a photographic quality image of a place on it, while the other will have my contact information. I am not looking to spend ungodly amount of money, however. So basically my question is, what printer will be adaquate to print photo quality images on cardstock?

Thanks

It won’t be cost efficient no matter how hard you try. Put it this way. I own a print shop and for $100, i cnaprint 2000 business card in full color.
The cost to replace your cartridgs on a laset is 5 times that price. On the other hand, if you purchase a $100 HP, it can print nice business cards. At least, it is more cost efficient because the cardige only cost $80. At least, you can print a few 1000 business card and the output is surprisingly nice.

If your talking thousands of business cards then I would suggest using the new kodak 3 in 1 printer. It uses 50% less ink. The ink cartridges are $9 for a black and $14 for colour making it less expensive. We currently use the ESP5. It fits in with the decor, it’s quick, and best of all its inexpensive. $149 at Staples the other day. There is also the ESP3 however it doesn’t have the colour display on it but it’s the exact same printer and it goes for about $100.

I am assuming that you would want a Color Laser Printer(best print quality).
Prices on Laser Printers have come down and you can now get a color laser printer for under $1,000.

I would take into account what you stated above indicating that you will need "literally thousands" weekly, as it may be cheaper in the long run than investing in the color laser printer to order them.

Ex; If you were to purchase the HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni, that could run about $450, and then you need the various cartridges(black, magenta, cyan, yellow) and catching those on sale, maybe at $75 each. Using this particular printer may not be heavy duty enough for your needs. That would entail spending more money to obtain an appropriate(heavy duty) printer and the accessories that go along with it.

    Good Luck! with your business….

I think that it would be better for you to use a professional service such as 4over4 printing they can offer you 250 cards for less than $25 and even I think, there’s a plan that allows you to get 250 cards for free.
